AF CERRADO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barcellos Mineiro FC the free kick. In the 5th minute, Renatinho Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Tomás Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldir Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renatinho Leal in the 13th minute of play. Sandrinho Sabóia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caetano Toscano in the 17th minute. When Barcellos Mineiro FC's Chu Liang Ping in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With a little luck, AF CERRADO's Sandrinho Sabóia got control of the ball when Chu Liang Ping tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Schmidt came free, but Waldir Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barcellos Mineiro FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Richard Travassos was slow to take the kick. During this time AF CERRADO's players had a chance to rest. Fausto Queirós thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Waldir Peres, a very annoying self made goal in the 43rd minute which led to 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chu Liang Ping made a kick off. Sebastião Silveira charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sebastião Silveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 63 played minutes Barcellos Mineiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Silveira. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chu Liang Ping couldn't finish the play. Chu Liang Ping fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Sabóia having to interfere. After having played for 94 minutes, Caetano Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barcellos Mineiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caetano Toscano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sandrinho Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Sandrinho Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Toscano in the 97th minute of play. The AF CERRADO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AF CERRADO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
