An unexpectedly hard shot by Sten Andrejević in the 10th minute of play forced River's goalkeeper Cosme Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind River's goalkeeper Cosme Fernendo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. It was Dean Harvey who took care of the corner kick. ROSÁRIO SPORT's Dean Harvey was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cosme Fernendo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The referee ignored River's protests and gave Silvestre Laurgain a yellow card for diving instead. 32 minutes into the game, one of River:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 39th minute, Nereo Argina made a precise shot to the right of Luiz Corrêa. ROSÁRIO SPORT's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Sten Andrejević's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cosme Fernendo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. After the first half ROSÁRIO SPORT were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sten Andrejević stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
