The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th minute of the match Paulo Maldini sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dan Wennerqvist skillfully saved the ball. 14 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Adrián Espadas came free, but Cãlin Damaschin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes in the game Norberto Liberato did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Zézinho Neiva. But to his dismay, Adrián Espadas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Cãlin Damaschin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amador Venceslao, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dan Wennerqvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrián Espadas in the 45th minute of play forced CERRO PORTEÑO's goalkeeper Cãlin Damaschin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Soroca F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Soroca F.C.'s goalkeeper Dan Wennerqvist, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Adrián Espadas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cãlin Damaschin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Cãlin Damaschin was left in no man's land by his defense there! Răzvan Necula took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cãlin Damaschin. Cãlin Damaschin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Răzvan Necula scored 0-5 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cãlin Damaschin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
