With an extended leg and a bit of luck Loramendi Cabarcos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. CERRO PORTEÑO's Paulo Maldini quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bebeto Sarmento, made in the 41st minute of the game. In the 44th match minute, CERRO PORTEÑO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Maldini to maneuver through the defense. After the first half CERRO PORTEÑO were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis made the kick off in the second half. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal.
