Severino Bueno started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's Andrzej Solarek got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Mané Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Bueno in the 3rd minute of play. A well-hit corner resulted in Zlatko Zahovič heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Mané Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darren Carabott in the 7th minute of the match. The supporters of Eleven Young Elephants booed when E. C. Flamengo Paraibano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomás Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute, Thomás Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mané Barreto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Darren Carabott went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Eleven Young Elephants's Carlo Camilleri suffered a concussion in the 21st minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Eleven Young Elephants made a substitution. Daniel Sant replaced Carlo Camilleri. After a rather tough play, E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's Váldson Queirós got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 37 minutes into the game, Eleven Young Elephants's Zlatko Zahovič nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mané Barreto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Mané Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Bueno in the 41st minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Váldson Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Bueno came free, but Mané Barreto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eleven Young Elephants's Aaron Tanti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio Silveira in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thomás Loureiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Eleven Young Elephants booed when E. C. Flamengo Paraibano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vivaldo Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's Inácio Silveira got a free kick in the 54th minute. With an all-out effort, Eleven Young Elephants's Mané Barreto threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Severino Bueno, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 57th minute Inácio Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Tanti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaron Tanti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inácio Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Vivaldo Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enzo Perez in the 66th minute of play forced E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's goalkeeper Mané Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 71 played minutes E. C. Flamengo Paraibano got a freekick which was hit by Thomás Loureiro. E. C. Flamengo Paraibano made a substitution. Eugênio Pires replaced Jorginho Lago. In the 72nd minute, Thomás Loureiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mané Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zlatko Zahovič, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when Zlatko Zahovič scored to the left of an out of position Mané Barreto, making the score, 0-4. In the 78th play minute Darren Carabott came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mané Barreto. 0-5. Enzo Perez took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mané Barreto. Mané Barreto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. 92 minutes into the match, E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's goalkeeper Mané Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Severino Bueno. Bernardinho Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Mané Barreto successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Eleven Young Elephants played a much better game than E. C. Flamengo Paraibano and deserved their victory. The E. C. Flamengo Paraibano players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
