After a defensive mix-up in Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's zone, Judas Verón stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rogério Ceni came out of the goal and Judas Verón tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's Rogério Ceni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Belgrano LOS PIRATAS from getting a goal against them. Judas Verón's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Rogério Ceni skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The supporters of Belgrano LOS PIRATAS booed when Belgrano de Pibasog was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blue Dolar didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Bernardo Raggio made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Guillermo Frank sent off a good shot on target. Judas Verón might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rogério Ceni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Iulian Ilinca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Melchor Markel in the 96th minute of play forced Belgrano de Pibasog's goalkeeper Bernardo Raggio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both players had fought hard during the second half to keep the score at 2-2. The tie meant more entertainment for the crowd as the match moved into extra-time.

After the break the players went out on the field to play the first half of overtime with revived energy in their legs. Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's Melchor Markel started the play with the initial kick off.
