Nestor Paraibano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Gonçalo de Medeiros made a huge save. Gonçalo de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 5th minute of play. Espigão Steamrollers's Gonçalo de Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Espigão Steamrollers from getting a goal against them. In the 14th minute, Manuel Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roneixon Siqueira in the 17th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Nestor Paraibano took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Gonçalo de Medeiros to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Marquês de Herval's Pedro Luís da Rocha got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roneixon Siqueira in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25th minute Roneixon Siqueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by German Cano in the 28th minute of play forced Espigão Steamrollers's goalkeeper Gonçalo de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roneixon Siqueira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. The corner ended in Leandro Gil almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel did a great save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with Gonçalo de Medeiros in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 35 minutes into the match, Espigão Steamrollers's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Gonçalo de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
Espigão Steamrollers made a substitution. Ángel Romero replaced Tarcisio Galvão. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredo Martins to make the kick off. Manuel Faria hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. After having played for 92 minutes, Alfredo Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marquês de Herval's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Martins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ángel Romero took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dida Taffarel. Dida Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Through an outstanding action, after 97 minutes, Dida Taffarel successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A nice corner shot did that Carlos Fernando Azevedo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dida Taffarel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Marquês de Herval's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
