Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Vigil, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Barra Gol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. 26 minutes into the game, Emanuel Vigil recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Óscar Cordoba. Emanuel Vigil showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejandro Rufo got free with Barra Gol in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Sporting de Gijón's Barra Gol threw himself towards the right post 81 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Matias Bilintx, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 82 minutes into the match, PEÇONHENTO FC MG's goalkeeper Barra Gol had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriel Diaz. Barra Gol made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Venancio Emesto sent off a good shot on target. Diego Maradona took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Barra Gol. Barra Gol dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijón's zone, Nelsinho Faria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Óscar Cordoba came out of the goal and Nelsinho Faria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leonel Pinheiro's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gijón's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonel Pinheiro helped the player get up and apologised. Leonel Pinheiro kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Barra Gol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Maradona in the 94th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The PEÇONHENTO FC MG fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting de Gijón had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
