After a rather tough play, Degerfors IF's Fredrik Isak got a free kick in the 8th minute. Staffan Lind showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Åke Fors in the 10th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Degerfors IF's goal looked a bit too open when Greger Lenberg came free, but Håkan Söderberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Degerfors IF's goalkeeper Håkan Söderberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Staffan Lind took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Åke Fors, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Greger Lenberg in the 25th minute of play forced Degerfors IF's goalkeeper Håkan Söderberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute of the match Linköpings AIK got a corner. Degerfors IF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arvid Carlsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After some careless play in the Degerfors IF defense, Arvid Carlsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Håkan Söderberg. The Degerfors IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Håkan Söderberg should have stopped the shot. 86 minutes into the match, Degerfors IF's goal looked a bit too open when Johannes Torstensson came free, but Håkan Söderberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 88 in the game by Greger Lenberg from a close distance when the talented Håkan Söderberg managed to make a qualified save. Degerfors IF's players were relieved.
