The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nicolao Sampil made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Paulino Maltez sent off a good shot on target. Club Getafe Deportivo were furious when Eli De Paula was red carded, 9 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 8th minute, one of Club Getafe Deportivo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Getafe Deportivo. When the match had been going on for 10 minutes, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Nicolao Sampil. Renato Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Viejo in the 13th minute of play. When Narciso Vilanova fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Getafe Deportivo's protests and gave Narciso Vilanova a yellow card for diving instead. Narciso Vilanova kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th minute Sporting Clube de Gaya were awarded a corner. Fredy Montero went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Sporting Clube de Gaya's corner Fredy Montero fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nicolao Sampil quite easily take care of the ball. After 18 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Ahmet Koralp Tükel. In the 20th minute, Narciso Vilanova hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Narciso Vilanova managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Getafe Deportivo's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Vilanova was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renato Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Eurico lago hit a great ball. In the 28th match minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Figo to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Club Getafe Deportivo booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Vilanova in the 39th minute of play. Nicolao Sampil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fredy Montero in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute, Valdo Viejo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Getafe Deportivo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Roldán Martinez charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roldán Martinez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulino Maltez to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Valdo Viejo came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas got control of the ball when Valdo Viejo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nicolao Sampil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredy Montero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54thth minute of the game Fredy Montero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Getafe Deportivo's Nicolao Sampil was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Club Getafe Deportivo's Zarando Redondo got a free kick in the 68th minute. Nicolao Sampil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulino Maltez in the 74th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Club Getafe Deportivo's goal looked a bit too open when Eloy Hats came free, but Nicolao Sampil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas got control of the ball when Licerio Cano tried to sneak it across the goal line.
