The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rinus van Rooijen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Willem van den Brink, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Rinus van Rooijen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jan-Willem van den Brink went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Sas defense, Jan-Willem van den Brink kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rinus van Rooijen. The Sas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rinus van Rooijen should have stopped the shot. A hard shot by Gerrit Everts from long distance, 19 minutes into the match, got Erwin Teesing's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a rather tough play, ASC South United's Dirk Jan de Lange got a free kick in the 20th minute. Erwin Teesing showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Stuifzand, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After a rather tough play, ASC South United's Geert Meerdink got a free kick in the 27th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Jan-Willem van den Brink managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ASC South United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan-Willem van den Brink was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 37th minute, Jan-Willem van den Brink ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rinus van Rooijen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Jan-Willem van den Brink struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Rinus van Rooijen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ASC South United. 41 minutes into the match, Sas's goal looked a bit too open when Rolf van der Saar came free, but Rinus van Rooijen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rinus van Rooijen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Tamminga in the 44th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Sas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrit Everts to maneuver through the defense. The Sas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. ASC South United were winning 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jan-Willem van den Brink to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, ASC South United's Geert Meerdink got a free kick in the 52nd minute. ASC South United's Andreas Tamminga suffered a concussion after 56 minutes and had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerrit Everts during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. ASC South United made a substitution. Ricky van Aalderen replaced Andreas Tamminga. Sas's Gerrit Everts got his second yellow card of the match in the 62nd minute. The referee ordered Gerrit Everts off the ground. In the 63rd match minute, Sas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrit Everts to maneuver through the defense. ASC South United's Ricky van Aalderen got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 72 played minutes ASC South United got a freekick which was hit by Pascall van Galen. After 80 minutes of play, ASC South United's Jan-Willem van den Brink made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rinus van Rooijen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jan-Willem van den Brink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rinus van Rooijen having to interfere. If Dirk Jan de Lange had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Jan-Willem van den Brink kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rinus van Rooijen. That made the score 0-6 in the 94 minute of play.
