Ferenc Kiprich's late challenge caught a Genk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferenc Kiprich helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferenc Kiprich to maneuver through the defense. Ferenc Némethy hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Siebe Dejonghe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Gregorie Allaert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 30thth minute of the game Siebe Dejonghe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE's Zoltán Bíró was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gregorie Allaert got free with Zoltán Bíró in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 33 minutes into the match, Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE's goalkeeper Zoltán Bíró had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gregorie Allaert. Sergio Coomans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ferenc Kiprich's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Ákos Tokody managed to get in a good position for a shot. Genk's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
