After 4 played minutes Verwachting got a freekick which was hit by Henk-Jan Opdam. After 6 played minutes Ad Fundum got a freekick which was hit by Heinz Schönberger. Jorre Jespers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Verwachting's Melvin Borgman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorre Jespers in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorre Jespers got free with Melvin Borgman in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Melvin Borgman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lennart Weygaerts in the 24th minute. The supporters of Ad Fundum booed when Verwachting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niels-Jan Harmens didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 27 in the game by Jorre Jespers from a close distance when the talented Melvin Borgman managed to make a qualified save. Verwachting's players were relieved. 28 minutes into the match, Ad Fundum's goal looked a bit too open when Theo Zoontjens came free, but Conrad Cremers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ad Fundum's Conrad Cremers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilco Kosterman in the 30th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goalkeeper Melvin Borgman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorre Jespers. In the 35th minute, Ad Fundum's Miguel Leerbels dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Ad Fundum's Conrad Cremers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilco Kosterman in the 38th minute of play. The Verwachting fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Verwachting's Ruud Geels looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Godfried Vereeken kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Conrad Cremers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilco Kosterman in the 44th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ruud Geels made the kick off in the second half. If Joop Van Impe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melvin Borgman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorre Jespers in the 53rd minute of the match.
