Spectators: 143 (Terracing: 110, Seating: 33, VIP seats: 0) A collision led to Atlético Mineiro getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Walmyr Guimarães hit a great ball. Walmyr Guimarães's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Enéas Arantes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Enéas Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reynaldo Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 17th minute, Ezequiel Xavier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Atlético Mineiro's Acácio Tande couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 18th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Resplendor. In the 20th match minute, Resplendor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdemar de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Resplendor booed when Atlético Mineiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfredo Favoretto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Paulo Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enéas Arantes having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Isaltino Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Resplendor were awarded a corner in the 44th minute after Atlético Mineiro's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bruno Soeiro took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Rogério Neves heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Reynaldo Paulista put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Enéas Arantes.

The wind increased when Rogério Neves made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Resplendor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogério Neves to maneuver through the defense. Enéas Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Walmyr Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Resplendor's Renatinho Oliveira got a free kick in the 59th minute. If Isaltino Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 64 minutes into the game, Atlético Mineiro's Walmyr Guimarães nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Enéas Arantes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Walmyr Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Reynaldo Paulista kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Enéas Arantes. That made the score 0-4 in the 69 minute of play. Enéas Arantes came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Mineiro's Walmyr Guimarães. But to his dismay, Walmyr Guimarães quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Reynaldo Paulista might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enéas Arantes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reynaldo Paulista ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 92nd minute of the match, Reynaldo Paulista tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Enéas Arantes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Atlético Mineiro's Reynaldo Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Atlético Mineiro's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
