The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. James Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Telmo Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A.A. Francana's Arnaldo Ramos got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. James Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Telmo Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers James Rodrigues in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Telmo Trigo saved A.A. Francana from getting behind. Ruy Fantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remo Amaral having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Elói de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute of the match Serginho Alagoano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Remo Amaral skillfully saved the ball. Lucas Moura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lucas Moura who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Telmo Trigo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 38th match minute, ✪ XV de Umarizal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Motta to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, João Adolfo Leite put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Remo Amaral. 43 minutes into the match, ✪ XV de Umarizal's goal looked a bit too open when João Adolfo Leite came free, but Remo Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
