João Pedro dos Santos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Pedro Luiz Figueiredo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. Armando Botelho took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Pedro dos Santos. Lúcio Pinho charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lúcio Pinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Capibaribe Stars's Leonel Varela was substituted for Váldson de Sena. In the 42nd minute, Lúcio Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Raimundo Camargo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. João Pedro dos Santos came out and tried to block the shot, but Raimundo Camargo slotted it home off the left post making it 5-0 in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

After 53 played minutes Wambalamba FC got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar da Fonseca. João Pedro dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Luiz Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The referee ignored Wambalamba FC's protests and gave Dinei Goiano a yellow card for diving instead.
