The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Albuquerque came free, but Valdir Pérez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Hugo Albuquerque put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Valdir Pérez. Christian Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Hugo Albuquerque's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valdir Pérez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Hugo Albuquerque left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MINEIROS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After 19 minutes, Luis Pereira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the União Verde FC and the MINEIROS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 19 played minutes União Verde FC got a freekick which was hit by Luis Pereira. In the 22nd match minute, MINEIROS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paraíba to maneuver through the defense. Valdir Pérez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hugo Albuquerque went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Toninho Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. If Toninho Goiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toninho Goiano hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Jorge Mendonça hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Valdir Pérez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toninho Goiano's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Albuquerque in the 46th minute of play forced União Verde FC's goalkeeper Valdir Pérez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hugo Albuquerque might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdir Pérez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hugo Albuquerque ran back to his position shaking his head.

The wind increased when Valdomiro Paraibano made the kick off in the second half. Valdir Pérez made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Hugo Albuquerque sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of União Verde FC booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Ferraz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54thth minute of the game Jorge Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 57th play minute Hugo Albuquerque came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Valdir Pérez. 1-6. União Verde FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Hugo Albuquerque scored to the left of an out of position Valdir Pérez, making the score, 1-7. With a little luck, União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez got control of the ball when Hugo Albuquerque tried to sneak it across the goal line. MINEIROS's Maicon Quintal was substituted for Benê Amorim. MINEIROS's Juan Zanette was substituted for Christian Fernandes. MINEIROS made a substitution. Vágner Gaspar replaced Nilson de Souza. Jorge Mendonça hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, União Verde FC's Valdomiro Paraibano got a free kick in the 80th minute. After 83 minutes, Juan Zanette mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MINEIROS and the União Verde FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Toninho Goiano came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the MINEIROS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toninho Goiano couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute, Hugo Albuquerque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to União Verde FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Ademir Guia hit a great ball. Hugo Albuquerques short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Valdir Pérez to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
