The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Christiano Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas Vidal, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the game, Itajaí Football Club's Conrado Miranda nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Renato Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 11 minutes into the game, one of Itajaí Football Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 17 played minutes Itajaí Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Miranda. Abel Batista took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Christiano Cearense. Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Itajaí Football Club's Christiano Cearense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Itajaí Football Club from getting a goal against them. In the 20th minute, Habilirows's Kaká Paes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Christiano Cearense. Christiano Cearense yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. 26 minutes into the match, Luís Paulo de Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Renato Braga. Habilirows's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Paulo de Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After some careless play in the Habilirows defense, Luís Paulo de Castro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Renato Braga. The Habilirows fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Renato Braga should have stopped the shot. In the 32nd minute Lucas Vidal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christiano Cearense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christiano Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Itajaí Football Club's Christiano Cearense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Itajaí Football Club from getting a goal against them. Christiano Cearense was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Kaká Paes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kaká Paes really showed his touch with that goal: 4-3. Wesley Velasco kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. In the 44th minute of the match Lucas Vidal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Christiano Cearense skillfully saved the ball. Kaká Paes's late challenge caught a Itajaí Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kaká Paes helped the player get up and apologised. After 45 played minutes Habilirows got a freekick which was hit by Kaká Paes. Renato Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-3 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Flávio Siqueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Kaká Paes came free, but Christiano Cearense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christiano Cearense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flávio Siqueira in the 61st minute of the match. Christiano Cearense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Siqueira in the 63rd minute of play. If Flávio Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Barros in the 66th minute of play forced Habilirows's goalkeeper Renato Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Paulo de Castro scored 4-4 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Renato Braga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 71 minutes into the match, Kaká Paes notched a goal, 5-4, to the right of Itajaí Football Club's Christiano Cearense. Christiano Cearense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Paes in the 73rd minute of play forced Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper Christiano Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucas Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Cearense having to interfere. Renato Braga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo de Castro in the 89th minute of play. Christiano Cearense came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Habilirows's Lucas Vidal. But to his dismay, Lucas Vidal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-4. 95 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas Vidal came free, but Christiano Cearense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Habilirows fans cheered their team off the field, for while Itajaí Football Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
