After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio FBPA's zone, Nelsinho Vergílio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Varela came out of the goal and Nelsinho Vergílio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Silvinho Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Varela having to interfere. Rui Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Paulo Amorim in the 13th minute of play. Gildo Fantini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Abel de Brito made a huge save. In the 20th minute Iuri Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdir de Alcântara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Abel de Brito made a huge save. Rui Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Vergílio in the 24th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Galvão in the 25th minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Rui Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir de Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute Silvinho Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, C.R. KRAKER 81's Nelsinho Vergílio got a free kick in the 34th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Valdir de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abel de Brito. C.R. KRAKER 81's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdir de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0.

The wind increased when Leopoldo Galvão made the kick off in the second half. Rui Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Galvão in the 51st minute of play. Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Galvão in the 51st minute of play. Rui Varela made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelsinho Vergílio in the 52nd minute. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Bernardinho Guerra hit a great ball. After some careless play in the C.R. KRAKER 81 defense, Valdir de Alcântara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abel de Brito. The C.R. KRAKER 81 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abel de Brito should have stopped the shot. When Grêmio FBPA's Valdir de Alcântara in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C.R. KRAKER 81's goalie prevented a goal. In the 66th play minute Leopoldo Galvão came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rui Varela. 3-2. Osvaldo Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Abel de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir de Alcântara in the 74th minute of play. Abel de Brito came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio FBPA's Valdir de Alcântara. But to his dismay, Valdir de Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. Rui Varela made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leopoldo Galvão in the 83rd minute. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela got control of the ball when Nelsinho Vergílio tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 88th minute José Paulo Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rui Varela made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Leopoldo Galvão sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Leopoldo Galvão took a quick shot and it went in 4-3 without a chance for Rui Varela to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Grêmio FBPA fans cheered their team off the field, for while C.R. KRAKER 81 had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
