The supporters of Vasco FC booed when Futuros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cícero Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arnaldo Salgado in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wellington Barbosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 28th minute of the match Futuros FC got a corner. Vasco FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adilson Toledo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Futuros FC's Adilson Toledo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wellington Barbosa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Vasco FC's Jonas Veloso got a free kick in the 29th minute. After 33 minutes, Gil Motta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vasco FC and the Futuros FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vasco FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Tinoco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Vasco FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adilson Toledo came free, but Wellington Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Arnaldo Salgado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wellington Barbosa was relentless in the 80th minute of the game.
