Júlio Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dalmo Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 16 minutes of play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Diego da Cunha made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Faustão Gaspar was left in no man's land by his defense there! Amadeu Porto hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Luiz Fábio Viana was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Cléberson Leme. Tiago Gabriel Arósio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luiz Fábio Viana came out and tried to block the shot, but Tiago Gabriel Arósio slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 20th minute. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Luiz Fábio Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléberson Leme in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Júlio Jacinto managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Jacinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Faustão Gaspar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Júlio Jacinto scored 1-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Faustão Gaspar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luiz Fábio Viana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiago Gabriel Arósio in the 35th minute. Luiz Fábio Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Lago in the 36th minute of play. In the 38th minute Vitório Lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fábio Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Luiz Fábio Viana got control of the ball when Vitório Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 42 minutes, Dalmo Bertassi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S.C. Corinthians Paulista and the Aguinhas players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dalmo Bertassi hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Júlio Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tiago Gabriel Arósio to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego da Cunha in the 54th minute of play forced Aguinhas's goalkeeper Faustão Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.C. Corinthians Paulista were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Aguinhas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ricardinho Catarinense took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Ricardinho Catarinense got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Faustão Gaspar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 61st match minute, S.C. Corinthians Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Jacinto to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the match, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Luiz Fábio Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Fábio Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitório Lago, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After some careless play in the S.C. Corinthians Paulista defense, Vitório Lago kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luiz Fábio Viana. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luiz Fábio Viana should have stopped the shot. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Luiz Fábio Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arlindo Ortiz in the 78th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Viana came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Aguinhas's Vitório Lago. But to his dismay, Vitório Lago quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. If Diego da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitório Lago in the 90th minute of play forced S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Luiz Fábio Viana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
