Carlinhos Galvão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.C. Corinthians Paulista. Fernando Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Víktor Pimenta in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute of the match, Frederico Tasso got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carlinhos Galvão was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to União Agrícola Barbarense getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Cafu Macedo hit a great ball. Frederico Tasso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlinhos Galvão came out and tried to block the shot, but Frederico Tasso slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the S.C. Corinthians Paulista defense, Otávio Salgado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Veiga. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Veiga should have stopped the shot. 37 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goalkeeper Carlinhos Galvão had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frederico Tasso. Luiz Fábio Viana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frederico Tasso to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Frederico Tasso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlinhos Galvão was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. 58 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goal looked a bit too open when Frederico Tasso came free, but Carlinhos Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in União Agrícola Barbarense's zone, Frederico Tasso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos Galvão came out of the goal and Frederico Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto de Salles got free with Fernando Veiga in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute, Júlio Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frederico Tasso in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlinhos Galvão saved União Agrícola Barbarense from getting behind. In the 67th minute Guga Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlinhos Galvão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frederico Tasso in the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Frederico Tasso made a precise shot to the right of Carlinhos Galvão. União Agrícola Barbarense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. After having played for 74 minutes, Luiz Fábio Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute Frederico Tasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giuseppe Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlinhos Galvão having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Frederico Tasso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlinhos Galvão was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frederico Tasso in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlinhos Galvão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Frederico Tasso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlinhos Galvão was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. S.C. Corinthians Paulista fully deserved thier win.
