Miguel Ángel Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John Weeke in the 13th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Weeke in the 18th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Miguel Ángel Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Weeke in the 20th minute of play. Miguel Ángel Ortiz came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Scarlet Speedster's Enrique Valladares. But to his dismay, Enrique Valladares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Miguel Ángel Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Weeke in the 24th minute of play. Miguel Ángel Ortiz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enrique Valladares in the 26th minute. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when Scarlet Speedster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Miguel Ángel Ortiz got control of the ball when Angelo Di Maria tried to sneak it across the goal line. Scarlet Speedster's Claudinho Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Abreu in the 31st minute of play. In the 31st match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivo Mello to maneuver through the defense. Scarlet Speedster's John Weeke got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Ángel Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Weeke in the 36th minute of the match. After 37 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Komen Grama. Miguel Ángel Ortiz was a little too slow when Angelo Di Maria got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Weeke in the 45th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Scarlet Speedster's Jonas Moreira got a free kick in the 46th minute. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Claudinho Figueiredo. Scarlet Speedster's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcel Abreu was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Scarlet Speedster booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caio Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. John Weeke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Enrique Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Ángel Ortiz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Di Maria, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Claudinho Figueiredo made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Ladislao Mazurkiewicz sent off a good shot on target. Angelo Di Maria scored 5-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Miguel Ángel Ortiz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Weeke in the 76th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute, John Weeke left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Scarlet Speedster fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. The supporters of Scarlet Speedster booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Komen Grama didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Di Maria came free, but Miguel Ángel Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. John Weeke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Ángel Ortiz having to interfere. Miguel Ángel Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonas Moreira in the 90th minute of play. After some careless play in the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul defense, Delfim Valadares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Miguel Ángel Ortiz. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Miguel Ángel Ortiz should have stopped the shot. After 94 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by João Batista. In the 95th minute of the match John Weeke sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miguel Ángel Ortiz skillfully saved the ball. Scarlet Speedster walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
