When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erwin Salcines made a kick off. Patryk Basaik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Tolhauzsen in the 58th minute of play. Saturnino Aburto's late challenge caught a Real Guayaquil.F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Saturnino Aburto helped the player get up and apologised. In the 60th match minute, AFC Richmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saturnino Aburto to maneuver through the defense.
