The coaching staff of Deportivo Empate protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bautista Mejia had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Deportivo Empate:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Key Biscayne FC:s goal. Rickey Joseph showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amador Abenda in the 32nd minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

In the 54th minute, Tristan Alford left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Key Biscayne FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Cordairo Abad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve Hogan in the 56th minute of play. After some careless play in the Deportivo Empate defense, Lance Pate kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cordairo Abad. The Deportivo Empate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cordairo Abad should have stopped the shot. Amador Abenda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
