After 4 minutes, Dick Danielsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Motala and the Djurgården United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Djurgården United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Eklund in the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute Sonny Njurenius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Åke Björling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bertil Lindholm got free with Åke Björling in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sverker Mossberg hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After 25 played minutes, Motala's Anton Åberg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Motala reached it. Motala's Åke Björling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sonny Njurenius in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 36 minutes, Bertil Lindholm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Djurgården United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertil Lindholm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the game, Ernst Burman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Åke Björling was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Djurgården United's Sonny Njurenius slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Åke Björling. That made the score 8-0 after 48 minutes of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 8-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jack Eklund to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Sverker Mossberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Åke Björling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Åke Björling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sonny Njurenius in the 55th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Ernst Burman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Åke Björling was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 61st minute, Sonny Njurenius made a precise shot to the right of Åke Björling. Motala's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 10-0. Åke Björling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sverker Mossberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernst Burman in the 68th minute of play forced Motala's goalkeeper Åke Björling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85thth minute of the game Sonny Njurenius who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Motala's Åke Björling was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Sonny Njurenius cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 13-0. Åke Björling was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 91st minute Ernst Burman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Åke Björling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sonny Njurenius in the 94th minute of play forced Motala's goalkeeper Åke Björling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, Sonny Njurenius left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Djurgården United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 14-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Djurgården United fully deserved thier win.
