Spectators: 163 (Terracing: 123, Seating: 37, VIP seats: 3) Octavian Bogdănescu came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by New York Red Bulls's Frank Rijkaard. But to his dismay, Frank Rijkaard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Frank Rijkaard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Octavian Bogdănescu made a huge save. 8 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goal looked a bit too open when Toro Díaz came free, but Octavian Bogdănescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Octavian Bogdănescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Berkan Temel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Octavian Bogdănescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basarab Panduru. Octavian Bogdănescu was a little too slow when Berkan Temel got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 2-0. 25 minutes in the game, Berkan Temel fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Octavian Bogdănescu having to interfere. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costin Iorgu in the 29th minute of play. FC Steaua Pildesti's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Basarab Panduru scored to the left of an out of position Octavian Bogdănescu, making the score, 3-0. Octavian Bogdănescu made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Basarab Panduru sent off a good shot on target. Vali Dinculescu made in the 37th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Costin Iorgu however managed to control. A collision led to FC Steaua Pildesti getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Nichifor Vergulescu hit a great ball. After 39 played minutes, New York Red Bulls's Basarab Panduru shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Octavian Bogdănescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New York Red Bulls reached it. Basarab Panduru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Augustin Nechifor made the kick off in the second half. If Berkan Temel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nichifor Vergulescu charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nichifor Vergulescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nichifor Vergulescu hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Berkan Temel managed to get in a good position for a shot. New York Red Bulls's supporters rose to their feet, but Berkan Temel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Octavian Bogdănescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Basarab Panduru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octavian Bogdănescu having to interfere. Răzvan Petrescu kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. After 64 played minutes, New York Red Bulls's Basarab Panduru shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Octavian Bogdănescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New York Red Bulls reached it. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of New York Red Bulls:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Steaua Pildesti:s goal. Toro Díaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octavian Bogdănescu having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Virgil Dragalina fired a really elegant long shot, but Eduardo Pereyra threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. After a defensive mix-up in FC Steaua Pildesti's zone, Basarab Panduru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octavian Bogdănescu came out of the goal and Basarab Panduru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, Basarab Panduru got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Toro Díaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. New York Red Bulls had played much better football throughout.
