Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Octav Puiu got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eduard Mihăilescu charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduard Mihăilescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Paralia Athens booed when Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduard Mihăilescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Nicolescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Gagiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-:s Victor Ologu showed great skill when he stopped Petre Maghiran:s penalty. 19 minutes into the game, Paralia Athens's Petre Maghiran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Victor Ologu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Cristian Nicolescu made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Dan Gagiu sent off a good shot on target. Victor Ologu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petre Maghiran in the 25th minute of play. The supporters of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valeriu Floricel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mircea Robu hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Albert Guriță, 38 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. The wind increased when Petre Benga made the kick off in the second half. Dan Gagiu's late challenge caught a Paralia Athens's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dan Gagiu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Dan Gagiu got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 54th match minute, Paralia Athens was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodor Chirilă to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Nicolescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octav Puiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Valeriu Floricel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Victor Ologu made a huge save. Valeriu Floricel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor Ologu made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Valeriu Floricel sent off a good shot on target. Mădălin Arjoca charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mădălin Arjoca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mădălin Arjoca kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Dan Gagiu was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 83rd minute, Dan Gagiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Victor Ologu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petre Maghiran in the 84th minute of the match. Victor Ologu made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Valeriu Floricel sent off a good shot on target. After 89 minutes, Petre Benga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- and the Paralia Athens players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Petre Benga hit a great ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
