After 14 minutes of play, ATLAS Mysłowice's Witold Wyrzykowski made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Witold Wyrzykowski got free with Zbyszko Borczak in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ludomil Gabis kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 46 minutes in the game Tanek Brzakala did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Andrzej Dziewedik. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Szczepan Klocko to make the kick off.
