The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Real Club Celta de Vigo's supporters rose to their feet, but Amat Maldonado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tarcísio Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Amat Maldonado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Tarcísio Leite made a huge save. Frodo Acarreta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Tarcísio Leite made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
