After 11 played minutes, Lions United's Paul-Louis Van Caubergen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ruud Luirink came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lions United reached it. 12 minutes into the match, Carl Vinckx had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruud Luirink. Zijdewind SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carl Vinckx was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Henk-Jan Slot's late challenge caught a Lions United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henk-Jan Slot helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Zijdewind SC's Henk-Jan Slot got a free kick in the 19th minute. Zijdewind SC's attentive Marcel Luirink managed to snatch the ball when Mathias Geraerts made a throw-in in the 23rd minute of the game. Ruud Luirink took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Vinckx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruud Luirink showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathieu-Maxim Toussain, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 30th match minute, Lions United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathias Geraerts to maneuver through the defense. Ruud Luirink showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carl Vinckx in the 33rd minute of the match. After 37 minutes of play, Lions United's Carl Vinckx made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruud Luirink was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bram Hegeman was shown his second yellow card after 40 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 47 played minutes Zijdewind SC got a freekick which was hit by Wesley de Haan. After the first half Lions United were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carl Vinckx to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Carl Vinckx ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ruud Luirink was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. If Carl Vinckx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Lions United booed when Zijdewind SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Luirink didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 59 played minutes Zijdewind SC got a freekick which was hit by Melvin Woering. Marcel Luirink kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Zijdewind SC defense, Mathieu-Maxim Toussain kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruud Luirink. The Zijdewind SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruud Luirink should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Zijdewind SC's zone, Carl Vinckx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruud Luirink came out of the goal and Carl Vinckx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 71st minute, Lions United's Carl Vinckx dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. 79 minutes into the game, Carl Vinckx recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ruud Luirink. Carl Vinckx showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-9. Ruud Luirink showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carl Vinckx in the 84th minute of the match. In the last second Ruud Luirink throw himself and got hold of the ball when Carl Vinckx in the 84thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Lions United were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Zijdewind SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mathias Geraerts took the corner. The corner led Lions United's Mathias Geraerts to fire away a dangerous shot which Ruud Luirink despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Carl Vinckx kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ruud Luirink. That made the score 0-10 in the 87 minute of play. In the 90th minute, Carl Vinckx made a precise shot to the right of Ruud Luirink. Zijdewind SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-11. When the final whistle sounded Lions United left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Zijdewind SC.
