The audience thought a goal was coming when Laurens Dekkers got free with Róbert Kormos in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 10th minute, Zsolt Vörös ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rinus van Rooijen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 14th minute, Mihály Földesi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Szombathely Squirrels fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 20 minutes into the game, Szombathely Squirrels's Zsolt Vörös nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rinus van Rooijen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Földesi in the 23rd minute of play forced Sas's goalkeeper Rinus van Rooijen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Szilárd Csikós sped through Sas's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rinus van Rooijen. When Szombathely Squirrels's Zsolt Vörös in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Dénes Boross might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rinus van Rooijen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dénes Boross ran back to his position shaking his head. The Sas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Szombathely Squirrels were winning 0-5.

Sas's Rinus van Rooijen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Sas from getting a goal against them. 52 minutes into the match, Sas's goalkeeper Rinus van Rooijen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mihály Földesi. Dénes Boross could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Rinus van Rooijen made a huge save. In the 56th minute of the game, Laurens Dekkers landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Krisztián György's late challenge caught a Sas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Krisztián György helped the player get up and apologised. After 57 played minutes Szombathely Squirrels got a freekick which was hit by Krisztián György. The Szombathely Squirrels fans' excitement grew in the 62nd match minute when Szombathely Squirrels's Mihály Földesi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With his leg Rinus van Rooijen managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Szombathely Squirrels's Szilárd Csikós fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Róbert Kormos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Huib Thijsse in the 67th minute of the match. Dénes Boross took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rinus van Rooijen. Rinus van Rooijen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. 78 minutes into the match, Mihály Földesi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rinus van Rooijen. Sas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mihály Földesi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. 82 minutes into the match, Zsolt Vörös had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rinus van Rooijen. After 87 minutes of play, Szombathely Squirrels's Dénes Boross made it 0-10 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rinus van Rooijen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zsolt Vörös recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Szilárd Csikós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Rinus van Rooijen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Szilárd Csikós took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rinus van Rooijen. Sas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Szilárd Csikós managed to get in a good position for a shot. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters rose to their feet, but Szilárd Csikós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rinus van Rooijen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
