The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florian Plouffe got free with Oleg Ubinov in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tristan Arioli came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by FC CSKA's Varban Netzov. But to his dismay, Varban Netzov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 15 played minutes FC CSKA got a freekick which was hit by Yancho Dzhongarski. Oleg Ubinov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raik Topuz in the 16th minute of play. Olympique Fribourg's Florian Plouffe got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florian Plouffe came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Oleg Ubinov could save by the left post. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Raik Topuz hit a great ball. Bruno Steiner charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The wind increased when Yancho Dzhongarski made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Yancho Dzhongarski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 55th minute, Dafin Papanchev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC CSKA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After 57 played minutes Olympique Fribourg got a freekick which was hit by Omar Bünder. Tristan Arioli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yancho Dzhongarski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 61 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Tristan Arioli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dafin Papanchev. Remo Pürro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oleg Ubinov having to interfere. In the 95th minute Yancho Dzhongarski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tristan Arioli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC CSKA eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
