The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paulo Renato Dracena came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Premier FC's Afonsinho Paiva. Paulo Renato Dracena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dadá da Costa in the 8th minute of the match. Alfredão Carvalho charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfredão Carvalho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Belo Academy getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Alfredão Carvalho hit a great ball. Afonsinho Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Leopoldo Senna came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Belo Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leopoldo Senna couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Premier FC's Zé Paulo Bezerra got control of the ball when Leopoldo Senna tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paulo Renato Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonsinho Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, Belo Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Dadá da Costa came free, but Paulo Renato Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Premier FC booed when Belo Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adhemar Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Premier FC's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Bezerra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael Passos. After a rather tough play, Belo Academy's Leopoldo Senna got a free kick in the 30th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Leopoldo Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belo Academy's supporters rose to their feet, but Leopoldo Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Paulo Bezerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute, André Luís Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Paulo Bezerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leopoldo Senna in the 41st minute of the match. Paulo Renato Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonsinho Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Premier FC were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Belo Academy's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Egídio Garcia took the corner. In the 69th match minute, Belo Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Senna to maneuver through the defense. If Dadá da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Paiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Paulo Renato Dracena made a huge save. Paulo Renato Dracena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
