Eliseu Melo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nicolas Quintal showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Léo Almeida notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC BARCELONA's Naldo Trevisan. Naldo Trevisan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 14 minutes into the match, Nicolas Quintal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eliseu Melo. Inter de São Paulo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicolas Quintal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC BARCELONA's goalkeeper Naldo Trevisan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enrique Furlan during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th match minute, FC BARCELONA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Furlan to maneuver through the defense. After 21 played minutes FC BARCELONA got a freekick which was hit by Yan Vianna. Agnaldo de Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Marco Queirós dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Eliseu Melo, 3-1. Inter de São Paulo's Eliseu Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Quintal in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of FC BARCELONA booed when Inter de São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celsinho Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Naldo Trevisan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Léo Almeida in the 34th minute of play. In the 34th minute, Léo Almeida made a precise shot to the right of Naldo Trevisan. FC BARCELONA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Eliseu Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Quintal in the 39th minute of the match. Inter de São Paulo's Eliseu Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Quintal in the 41st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Quintal in the 45th minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Eliseu Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Celsinho Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. Naldo Trevisan made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Léo Almeida sent off a good shot on target. Celsinho Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Trevisan having to interfere. Eliseu Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Nicolas Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Eliseu Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseu Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Furlan, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 66 played minutes Inter de São Paulo got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Koehler. When Celso Terra fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC BARCELONA's protests and gave Celso Terra a yellow card for diving instead. Celso Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Marco Queirós recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eliseu Melo came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by FC BARCELONA's Enrique Furlan. But to his dismay, Enrique Furlan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. After 80 played minutes Inter de São Paulo got a freekick which was hit by Wilton Magalhães. Eliseu Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Célio Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute Célio Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliseu Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Léo Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Inter de São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Queirós came free, but Eliseu Melo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseu Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Queirós in the 92nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Queirós in the 94th minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Eliseu Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC BARCELONA fully deserved thier win.
