An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodoro Carioca in the 4th minute of play forced Caatiba MZC's goalkeeper Rodolfo Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laerte da Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Clóvis Oliveira fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caneleiros FC's protests and gave Clóvis Oliveira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caatiba MZC booed when Caneleiros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis Oliveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 11 minutes into the game, Caneleiros FC's Aníbal Marquez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rodolfo Quirino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Caatiba MZC's Rodolfo Quirino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Carioca in the 15th minute of play. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Teodoro Carioca sped through Caatiba MZC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rodolfo Quirino. Rodolfo Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Marquez in the 21st minute of play. When Edmílson Maciel fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caneleiros FC's protests and gave Edmílson Maciel a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caatiba MZC booed when Caneleiros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmílson Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eusébio Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Dias having to interfere. The Caneleiros FC fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Caneleiros FC's Teodoro Carioca looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 32ndth minute of the game Teodoro Carioca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caatiba MZC's Rodolfo Quirino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Caneleiros FC booed when Caatiba MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laerte da Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Caatiba MZC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Dinei Moraes hit a great ball. Rodolfo Quirino came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Caneleiros FC's Aníbal Marquez. But to his dismay, Aníbal Marquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adrianinho Ortiz made a kick off. Caneleiros FC's Teodoro Carioca came free and shot a quick shot against goal 53 minutes in the game, fortunately Rodolfo Quirino had problems saving as it came toward the left post. With an all-out effort, Caneleiros FC's Rodolfo Quirino threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aníbal Marquez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teodoro Carioca got free with Rodolfo Quirino in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 62 minutes, Aníbal Marquez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caneleiros FC and the Caatiba MZC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aníbal Marquez kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Laerte da Silva took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcus Dias. Caneleiros FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Aníbal Marquez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodolfo Quirino having to make a save. In the 65th minute, Teodoro Carioca made a precise shot to the right of Rodolfo Quirino. Caatiba MZC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Teodoro Carioca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 72 minutes, Aníbal Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caneleiros FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aníbal Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 73 played minutes Caneleiros FC got a freekick which was hit by Teodoro Carioca. After 75 played minutes Caatiba MZC got a freekick which was hit by Allan Penha. Aníbal Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teodoro Cariocas short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Rodolfo Quirino to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 80 played minutes Caneleiros FC got a freekick which was hit by Tony Valladares. In the 85th minute, Clóvis Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was beautiful to see Caatiba MZC's Allan Penha in action when he in the 86th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Teodoro Carioca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodolfo Quirino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. The Caneleiros FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Caneleiros FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
