Gil Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bastioes EC's Diego Duarte managed to work through Grêmio 20 Julho's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Diego Duarte dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The supporters of Grêmio 20 Julho booed when Bastioes EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agostinho Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Paraíba in the 13th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Gil Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gil Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 22nd minute Grêmio 20 Julho were awarded a corner. Marcin Rekowski went to the cornerflag to take it. 24 minutes into the game, Anselmo Paraíba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bastioes EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio 20 Julho the free kick. A collision led to Bastioes EC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Anselmo Paraíba hit a great ball. Jael Jardel took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdir Ferraz. Valdir Ferraz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Paraíba in the 30th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Gil Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Anderson de Sousa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valdir Ferraz was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Jael Jardel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th match minute, Grêmio 20 Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Adolfo de Andrade to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute of the match Rafinha Cavalcante shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gil Guerra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jael Jardel made a kick off. In the 50th minute Jael Jardel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Ferraz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdir Ferraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jael Jardel's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bastioes EC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marcin Rekowski was slow to take the kick. During this time Grêmio 20 Julho's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Grêmio 20 Julho's Marcin Rekowski to fire away a dangerous shot which Valdir Ferraz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jael Jardel in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Valdir Ferraz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Valdir Ferraz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anderson de Sousa in the 69th minute of the match. If Jael Jardel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 77 played minutes, Grêmio 20 Julho's Claudinho Toscano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valdir Ferraz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Grêmio 20 Julho reached it. In the 78th minute, Anselmo Paraíba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Grêmio 20 Julho made a substitution. Jânio Pires replaced César da Silveira. Anselmo Paraíba hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Jael Jardel took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdir Ferraz. Valdir Ferraz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Valdir Ferraz came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio 20 Julho's Jael Jardel. But to his dismay, Jael Jardel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Valdir Ferraz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jael Jardel in the 89th minute of the match. After 91 minutes Bastioes EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marcin Rekowski who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Marcin Rekowski almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bastioes EC's Valdir Ferraz did a great save. Grêmio 20 Julho walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
