Remo Falcão's late challenge caught a TAQUARI FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remo Falcão helped the player get up and apologised. Remo Falcão kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. After 20 played minutes Barrenta SC got a freekick which was hit by Remo Falcão. After a defensive mix-up in TAQUARI FC's zone, Yuri Alberto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jano Neves came out of the goal and Yuri Alberto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the TAQUARI FC defense, Angelo Cabral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jano Neves. The TAQUARI FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jano Neves should have stopped the shot. 30 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir Peres came free, but Nestor Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute of the match, Luís Paulo França got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nestor Carioca was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Lima in the 43rd minute of play forced TAQUARI FC's goalkeeper Jano Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Fábio Lima in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jano Neves saved TAQUARI FC from getting behind. In the 46th minute, Valdir Peres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Barrenta SC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Fábio Lima to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute Adriano Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Barrenta SC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Luiz Fábio Lima hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goalkeeper Jano Neves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Angelo Cabral. Luís Paulo França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Nestor Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nestor Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo França in the 75th minute of play. After a rather tough play, TAQUARI FC's Adriano Soares got a free kick in the 78th minute. Nestor Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barrenta SC's Nestor Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adalberto Damião in the 92nd minute of play. Barrenta SC's Remo Falcão got his second yellow card of the match in the 93rd minute. The referee ordered Remo Falcão off the ground. After 93 played minutes Barrenta SC got a freekick which was hit by Remo Falcão. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Barrenta SC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
