The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jovens Democratas MZC reached it. Lúcio Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Matias Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leandro Damião made a kick off. After some careless play in the Grêmio RK75 defense, Lúcio Cruz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matias Taffarel. The Grêmio RK75 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matias Taffarel should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Leandro Damião put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Filiberto Fidele. Nilton Lira hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Matias Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Negri in the 92nd minute of the match. Although Jovens Democratas MZC had been in control for most of the match, Grêmio RK75 still came away with the win.
