The referee ignored Estudiantes de La Plata's protests and gave Cecilio Vimaro a yellow card for diving instead. Barrialito AFC made a substitution. Hernan Socorro replaced Efrain Blai. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Sotil got free with Cristo Elivareo in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jaime Garikoitz in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicolas Kepa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jaime Garikoitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Nicolas Kepa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Estudiantes de La Plata getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Tadeusz Rasialdo hit a great ball. In the 46th minute of the match Amadeo Caton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicolas Kepa skillfully saved the ball. After the first half Barrialito AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Estudiantes de La Plata's Jacobo Porfiro was substituted for Marcos Bilintx. The wind increased when Rogelio Sotil made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Placido Estefan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristo Elivareo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
