Spectators: 152 (Terracing: 114, Seating: 35, VIP seats: 3) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marcos Mederi started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Los Hornos's Eustaquio Omero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benjamin Price made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Benjamin Price showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustaquio Omero, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 19th minute Marcos Mederi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Everardo Francho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 21 played minutes Los Hornos got a freekick which was hit by Eustaquio Omero. After having played for 30 minutes, Bernardo Estevez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Hornos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardo Estevez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After recieving a nice pass, Los Hornos's Marciano Tanio tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute Marcos Mederi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Everardo Francho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eustaquio Omero to make the kick off. After 63 played minutes Los Hornos got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Fonso. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcos Mederi got free with Everardo Francho in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 66 minutes into the match, Los Hornos's goal looked a bit too open when Zeledon Rubio came free, but Everardo Francho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eustaquio Omero in the 68th minute of play forced Characate FC's goalkeeper Benjamin Price to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Los Hornos getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Bernardo Estevez hit a great ball. Los Hornos's attentive Humberto Iyan managed to snatch the ball when Ernesto Txanton made a throw-in in the 79th minute of the game. Humberto Iyan's late challenge caught a Characate FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Humberto Iyan helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes Los Hornos got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Iyan. After 94 minutes, Michael Ballack mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Characate FC and the Los Hornos players grew even worse after the yellow card.
