The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrique Arostegui got free with Petr Čech in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. AFC Richmond's Próspero Friederichs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriel Argandoña in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to Algarrobo getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Juan Jesus Orrego hit a great ball. Ulises Abusleme made a great header on AFC Richmond's corner, it was just that Algarrobo's Petr Čech managed to reach the ball for a save. After 36 minutes AFC Richmond's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fidelio Aldunate who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Fidelio Aldunate almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AFC Richmond's Próspero Friederichs did a great save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
