After a rather tough play, American Airlines's Fabian Page got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Emilio Archibeque's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dale Skinner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Cruz Salcedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dale Skinner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Isazi in the 13th minute of play. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Cruz Salcedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Skywalker in the 16th minute of play forced Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalkeeper Cruz Salcedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cruz Salcedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexis Couch in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in American Airlines's zone, Gustavo Isazi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dale Skinner came out of the goal and Gustavo Isazi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute of the match, Alexis Couch tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cruz Salcedo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 27th minute, Rogerio Vilela left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexis Couch got free with Cruz Salcedo in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 44 played minutes American Airlines got a freekick which was hit by Mario Madel. 46 minutes into the match, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goal looked a bit too open when Houston Floyd came free, but Cruz Salcedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute, Alexis Couch fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cruz Salcedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Houston Floyd in the 48th minute of the match. After the first half Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
