AB Tårnby's Clas Gothardt quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ronnie Prince, made in the 18th minute of the game. Thomas Lauridsen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Jim Sutton made a huge save. Morten Hjulmand sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Lauridsen got free with Jim Sutton in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thomas Lauridsen succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 29th playminute. Thomas Lauridsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jim Sutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. AB Tårnby's Al Birkestrøm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicholas Kellaway in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Thomas Lauridsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Jim Sutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manchester City's Jim Sutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Lauridsen in the 66th minute of play. Rune Rothborg lost his temper 73 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Al Birkestrøm didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester City. 78 minutes into the match, AB Tårnby's goal looked a bit too open when Pierre Maston came free, but Al Birkestrøm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Manchester City booed when AB Tårnby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Lauridsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rdth minute of the game Pierre Maston who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AB Tårnby's Al Birkestrøm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Manchester City's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
