When Carsten Schaub got free in front of the goal in the 12th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Dariusz Wieberneit was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Bruce Pesch might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dariusz Wieberneit. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bruce Pesch ran back to his position shaking his head. Arnd Freye's late challenge caught a SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnd Freye helped the player get up and apologised. After 19 played minutes Academica Pulheim got a freekick which was hit by Arnd Freye. After having played for 20 minutes, Dejan Leuschner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Dejan Leuschner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sönke Odenwälder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christoph Sönksen went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Ivica Tschida got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Sönke Odenwälder proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. from getting a goal against them. Academica Pulheim's Stefan Winitzki got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dariusz Wieberneit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fritz Nettig in the 39th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carsten Schaub in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dariusz Wieberneit prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

Academica Pulheim's Michael Paziorek was substituted for Hadrian Greilinger. Sönke Odenwälder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel Schaffert in the 55th minute of play. Sönke Odenwälder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roman Biehlert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Roman Biehlert came free, but Sönke Odenwälder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute Noel Schaffert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sönke Odenwälder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Bolko Röhmer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Academica Pulheim's Barnabas Rogge was substituted for Christoph Sönksen. Sönke Odenwälder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Michael Paziorek went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After 78 minutes Academica Pulheim's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dejan Leuschner who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Dejan Leuschner almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Academica Pulheim's Dariusz Wieberneit did a great save. Sönke Odenwälder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnd Freye in the 79th minute of the match. After 80 played minutes SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. got a freekick which was hit by Bolko Röhmer. 82 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Noel Schaffert came free, but Sönke Odenwälder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute, Gunther Daun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dariusz Wieberneit showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carsten Schaub in the 87th minute of the match. Carsten Schaub received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Dariusz Wieberneit tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dariusz Wieberneit made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Fritz Nettig sent off a good shot on target. The Academica Pulheim support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
