The Girona FC fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Girona FC's Reynaldo Gimenez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in DPD FC's zone, Unai De la Torre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno Pais came out of the goal and Unai De la Torre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 19th minute, Reynaldo Gimenez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nuno Pais was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 22 minutes into the game, Tarcísio Calçada was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DPD FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Girona FC the free kick. Tarcísio Calçada hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jairo Setúbal was the one to do the kick off.
