After 4 minutes, Glen de Pelsmaecker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting Mambo and the SK Gullegem players grew even worse after the yellow card. With an all-out effort, SK Gullegem's Waut Goons threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edmond Walder, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind SK Gullegem's goalkeeper Yelle Van Damme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The shot was stopped by Yelle Van Damme but with some difficulty. Waut Goons showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmond Walder, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Waut Goons showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertus Reijdams in the 84th minute of the match. In the 86th minute Edmond Walder shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waut Goons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Sporting Mambo's goal looked a bit too open when Edmond Walder came free, but Waut Goons reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edmond Walder took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Waut Goons. Waut Goons dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Sporting Mambo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
