The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. AFK Petržalka's defense didn't have a chance, in the 9th minute, when Maurice Haydon scored to the left of an out of position Norberd Valentík, making the score, 1-0. Matej Valentík sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, AFK Petržalka's Roland Záhoran got a free kick in the 14th minute. Roland Záhoran took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Serge Buring. Serge Buring dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roland Záhoran couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Ágætis Byrjun getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Maurice Haydon hit a great ball. Ágætis Byrjun's Gerrie Kuijsten got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norberd Valentík showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerrie Kuijsten, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Norberd Valentík showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurice Haydon in the 64th minute of the match. The supporters of Ágætis Byrjun booed when AFK Petržalka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Záhoran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute, AFK Petržalka's Roland Záhoran ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Serge Buring. Serge Buring yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. After 86 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Zaagman. Marcus Zaagman hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Ivan Girman hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Norberd Valentík took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerrie Kuijsten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute, Roland Záhoran left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFK Petržalka fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4.
