Dráuzio Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. With 9 minutes on the clock, Sílvio Luís Leal commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 8th minute, one of Vila Nova FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vila Nova FC. 13 minutes into the game, Maurinho Custódio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vila Nova FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave TIMETER EC -DMZ- the free kick. After 13 played minutes Vila Nova FC got a freekick which was hit by Maurinho Custódio. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Cafu de Souza put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s Cafu de Souza got a free kick in the 18th minute. When Walmyr Penha came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Vila Nova FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmyr Penha couldn't finish the play. Rogério de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ademir Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elói Borges during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute, Elói Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 26 minutes of play, Vila Nova FC's Rony Gomes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vítor de Lima was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vítor de Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rony Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Ademir Cruz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogério de Mendonça in the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Adhemar Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s Vítor de Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rony Gomes in the 40th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Rony Gomes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s Vítor de Lima. Vítor de Lima was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raphael Aguiar to make the kick off. 58 minutes into the game, Rony Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Vítor de Lima was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Rogério de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Vila Nova FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Wanderson Baptista hit a great ball. TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s Raphael Aguiar got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 74th minute, when Rony Gomes scored to the left of an out of position Vítor de Lima, making the score, 1-4. After a rather tough play, TIMETER EC -DMZ-'s Raphael Aguiar got a free kick in the 77th minute. Elói Borges's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ademir Cruz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elói Borges in the 82nd minute of play forced Vila Nova FC's goalkeeper Ademir Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the game, Rony Gomes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vítor de Lima. Rony Gomes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. After some careless play in the Vila Nova FC defense, Raphael Aguiar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ademir Cruz. The Vila Nova FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ademir Cruz should have stopped the shot.
