Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcelo Falcão to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's zone, Luiz Eduardo Domingues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Ferreira came out of the goal and Luiz Eduardo Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Haroldo Recife made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Délio Coelho sent off a good shot on target. Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's Antônio Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Falcão in the 97th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Clube Atl. Taquaritinga had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
